You've planned a big trip to do in two weeks. I travel to Croatia several times a year and am still discovering small towns that capture my immagination so much they refuse to let me leave after my intended time allowance.
Split is a nice town to spend one night. Then take a ferry to either Hvar or Corcula town and spend a day or two. A ferry down the coast to Dubrovnik is a wonderful way to see the coastline and enjoy the scenery. The ferry from Hvar or Corcula will take you between 5 and 8 hours - IF you plan well in advance, the ferries don't travel every day so plan well.
Dubrovnik will keep you amused for two/three days but then it's time to move on. You could take the water taxi from the old port to one of my favourite places in Croatia, the small village of Cavtat. A place of quiet relaxation. If that's not you're thing and you're intent on going South, then take the bus from the New Port bus station to Budva - costs about €17 I think. It's a long way to Albania after that so I would make a decision to leave it at two countries if you don't want to be running and seeing nothing.
Believe me please when I say that you will fall in love with some small village in Croatia M'negro and not want to go any further.

PS the bus from Split (an alternative to the ferry) takes about 6/7 hours with a stop in Bosnia-Hertzegovnia for a break (great place to buy cheap cigarettes, liquour etc). I forget the cost of the bus but I think no more than €15.
