Tiger Airways?

Hi,
Can anyone give me information on Tiger Airways? I have heard that they are a cheap way to get around Australia. I'm just looking at all the alternatives as the train doesn't run everywhere and seems to be pretty expensive. Can anyone give me the heads-up on the best options?
Thanks in advance!

You don't say where you want to travel in Australia, so hard to say what the best options are. Different travel options are:

AIRLINES
Virgin Blue
Qantas
Tiger

BUS
Greyhound
Firefly (Melbourne, Adelaide, Canberra Sydney)
There would also be other more local services (e.g. VLine within Victoria)

And then tour buses too such as Oz Experience.

How expensive the train is, depends on where you're looking at going and any discounts you might get (e.g. backpacker).

Thanks mojorob,
Currently, I am only at the planning stage. I have travelled to Australia a couple of times already, and I am starting to feel my feet, and am getting a bit more adventurous! Australia is such a vast country to get around, and it is always good to have a plan B in your pocket, but sometimes it's fun just to go where the wind blows....

Flown with Tiger between Singapore and Darwin only - and they were quite good. Not a clue about using them to hop about OZ though.

That said - Oz is the place to use frequent flyer miles if you have them as flights tend to be expensive and cover big distances. I got a ton more out of my miles in OZ then I would have anywhere else in the world.

I also used an airline called Jetstar for travel as it was one of the better low cost options for flying.

With the discount airlines like Tiger and Jetstar definitely shop the flights ahead of time and check days/dates as the prices do tend to vary widely.
