2 months in Malaysia? lol. oh well, our capital- Kuala Lumpur (aka KL) is known as a shopping & clubbing paradise. To be frank, there's not much of sight-seeing you can do in KL so i suggest you to stay for a couple of days then head to west & north of Peninsular Malaysia, namely Melaka (some called it Malacca- was once a Portuguese colony ) & Penang where the cultures are much richer and food are just AWESOME You also must not miss the Batu Ferringhi beach of Penang. A week in these 2 beautiful states, board on the plane and fly to Sipadan (Sabah) for your ultimate diving experience! Or Kota Kinabalu (Sabah) to conquer the Mount Kinabalu!
If you would like do some jungle trekking and water rafting, be sure to head to Pahang whereby the National Park (Taman Negara) is the oldest tropical rainforest in the world.
If you love sunny weather (pretty humid i must say), Malaysia is the ideal spot for you for some great outdoor adventure!

Hi Rogo, LLQ posted many of the highlights of Malaysian Borneo, but in short
1) Go diving/snorkling in Sipidan off the Sabah State,
2) visit the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Center
3) Spend a few days watching wildlife in a jungle camp
4) Climb Mount Kinabalu
5) Enjoy the outdoor dinner markets in Kota Kinabalu (also the cheapest place I've found to learn to dive if you aren't already certified).
6) Take a day or more trip while you are there to visit Brunei
7) the Gomantong Caves are amazing
then there are plenty of other adventures/rainforest things to see/do. Including viewing sanctuary for the worlds largest flowers, whitewater rafting, wetlands boat treks (wildlife spotting) and even some pretty cool antique trains that provide tourist service only now, but back in the days were the lifeblood of transport throughout borneo for the British empire.
And of course you must visit a longhouse or two, or some of the tribal areas.
I've heard great things about Kota Belud too.

Oh, and the prices were reasonable for most things. Diving and the Jungle camps being the most expensive things we did - but with a little bargaining and some help from a local agent we made out quite alright. Definitely shop around - even for prices on the EXACT same trip, we found one local agent in KK who got us a killer deal for Sipidan and the jungle camps when everyone else was quoting much, much higher prices.
Hostels with private rooms ran us about $20-30 a night depending on where we stayed - and we tended to opt for nicer accommodations so you probably can find some for much less.

Great choice, Malaysia is truly a land of gorgeous sights, exciting adventures, stunning scenery, lovely weather and delicious food. Best of all, the people are generally very kind and hospitable.
I live in Singapore, I tend to visit Malaysia quite often, but my best weekends are those spent in Tanjung Resang, just north of Mersing, in Johor Bahru.
Tanjung Resang is what's locally known as an "ulu", spot, meaning it's a bit remote, not frequented by the masses. It's not a tourism brochure darling and the reason is that it's a little tucked away in between a jungle and the sea, and also because there are not as many resorts as Kuantan, or Desaru.
Still, there's plenty of eco-tourism and sea sports fun to be had ever since this outfit, -snip-, set up shop there. They can provide you with everything, from rental equipment to rooms and from meals to tips on how to maximize your stay there.
