Great Ocean Road, no car

magykal1 has indicated that this thread is about Victoria (Australia)

I'd probably go with a tour bus as there are loads of places along the way that are worth stopping at as well as the 12 apostles. I did a 2 day-1 night tour with Greyhound which was really good and was about the right time frame; I wouldn't have wanted to do it in any less time that that. The prettiest stretch is towards the Melbourne end.

I've just looked at the Greyhound website and it appears the tour I did doesn't run anymore but there are 1 day and 3 day tours available.

Apollo Bay is nice. It's a good choice for a place to stay. Lorne is also a good option, more towards the start of the road.

I think a tour bus could be the pick. I guess the main reason being it's all organised and they ensure you get to the right places at the right time. You really want to be at the 12 apostles at either sunset or sunrise for example. It's by far the nicest time to see it. That might be a little tricky if you're relying on public buses.

A tour bus will also stop at some other noteworthy places presumably, which is harder if you are on public buses. There are lots of cool places to stop right near the twelve apostles in fact.

And are you going to come say hi while you're in Melbourne ?

Thanks - I think we are persuaded to do a tour, there is even a hop-on-hop-off one which will drop us off somewhere to stay and pick us up a few days later.

And Peter - thanks, yes I'd love to pop in and say hi.

Cool! Pop me a message when you have dates, etc.. and we'll organise something
