Month in Italy and Spain

I need help with finding the best cities to visit and or stay in in Italy and Spain. We were thinking about backpacking all through Europe but now we are leaning towards spending a month in Italy and a month in Spain. We would like to rent an apartment but we arent sure where to start in finding an apartment or what would be the best city to spend the month in.We are looking at being in Italy during May and Spain during June. Any information would be appreciated on Italy or Spain. Thanks

Hey

If there's one place in Italy I could contemplate spending a month it'd be Naples. I loved it. The rest of italy, for me, was just a bit crazy in "how the hell do they get anything done??" type way. Naples has it too but it's cool

Spain I'd say Barcelona would be my favourite and, I suspect, most peoples. Lots of bars, entertainment, stuff to see etc I liked Granada, Seville and Valencia too but in June the heat is a killer.

Hope that helps!

Thanks we will look into that!

Hey!

Sounds great, staying a month in Italy and a month in Spain!
I´ve been to Italy several times in the past and personally I liked Rome the most! It´s a beautiful city to visit, very cultural and impressive, but also very good to shop and to go out.. So at leastyou should visit Rome when you are staying a month in Italy.

When you´re in Spain, you must go to Barcelona! I´m living here now for a while and I am in love with this city. Barcelona has a lot to offer, beautiful architecture, breathtaking mountains, culture, delicious restaurants and much more! The nightlife here is crazy! A big advantage of the Catalan Capital is that has great beaches! As you´re visiting Spain in June, this would be perfect.

I can talk for hours about Barcelona, but I won´t bother you with all that
If you decide to visit this city, feel free to ask me any questions.
Good Luck!

I agree if you want to Spend a month in one city, Barcelona would be a good choice - its got just about everything you could want.

Personally if I was going to spend a month in an Italian city it would be Rome. There's absolutely loads to see and do but also it's very central and easy to head either Northwards or Southwards for day trips away. To go to Florence or Bologna would be a bit far from Naples, I think, but is quite doable from Rome.

I'd like to spend a month in Barcelona and Rome...want to share an apartment? I'm a single 50ish woman from Colorado and fly on a Delta Companion pass...so I am looking for cheap ways to see the world. If you want to split the bill, let me know!

Hi! It's sounds great, one month to spend in Italy and in Spain! I'm italian (from Rome), but i know Spain very well, because i've been there several times. If you choose Italy, i suggest you to visit Rome, Venice, Naples and, if you like the sea, you could go to Sardinia or Sicily, which are amazing!!! I don'y know if you are planning to stay in one city or to move around Italy. If you need any suggestions I will be happy to help you! -snip-
Good bye and good stay in Italy!!

Barcelona gets all the hype! However, central Spain is absolutely lovely. Madrid has so much culture and fantastic food. Also it is a great base point from which to explore a good amount of the country. Toledo is close to Madrid (about an hour by train) and is a charming city that is worth a visit as well; we tried to do it in a day but were yearning for more...I think at least 3 days would be best. Salamanca has lovely old churches and one of the world's oldest universities; it's a good 3 hour drive west over the mountains from Madrid though but is certainly worth it.

Haven't been to Italy yet so can't comment on that although Venice and Rome are on my short list of places to see

Rome is an amazing city: that's the place I would choose if I was going to spend a month in one Italian city. But another option is to stay in a northern city like Bologna, where you can take short overnight trips to many of the great cities in N. Italy (Milano, Venice, Ravenna, Florence, Genoa, etc.)
