Peru In January

Bus links them all.

Cusco to Arequipa is about 8-10 hours I think. Same for Arequipa to Nazca.

Get the overnight bus and it works out perfect.

Hello Mackenzie,
I also recommend to take buses rather than driving around. It is easier and less risky. Peruvian roads can be tricky because they lack of constant signposting and there are not many gas-stations along the road.

Also, you reach high altitudes sometimes close to 5,000 meters (15,000 ft), and you might experience altitude sickness on the road. Another inconvenience is that not many people speak English, so it will be extremely hard to get directions on the road and even at the cities where traffic can be very aggressive (e.g. Lima).

Also, renting a car can be complicated because you usually have to return the car to the original station.

Have a safe trip,
Ivan
