I've been trying to plan some fun activities to do in NYC in the future. And in my search I found this interesting Cirque Du Soleil video (http://video.msg.com/Videos/MSG-Networks/qi3DJow_yJBoFuxA3FdxjFndKQRfUrVP) and I'm wondering If anyone here has seen this or anything like it?? I'm debating whether I should buy tickets or not.
What there isn't to do in NYC would fill one line - nothing (as in you can do everything). Its such an amazing place. I would say that I wouldn't buy tickets in advance for anything unless its something you really want to do and it may sell out. There is plenty of competition by hotels etc offering discounts on tickets and grabbing the free papers there and seeing what is on that night will give you something to see and do - you're never stuck.
I don't know if your into this sort of thing but my boyfriend took me to Manhattan in Feb last year for my birthday and we went to this awesome secret club/bar. It was on the corner of Delancey and some other road and is hidden behind a fake store called East Side Toy Co. and you walk down the side through a little wooden gate and down a back alley, when you knock of the door the bouncer opens one of those little eye things to check you out before letting you in. Once in side it's very grandely decorated with a chandelier etc and they serve you drinks out of brown paper bags and tea cups to disguise them. There is a book case at the end which opens up into another room, it was all very cool and exciting getting there and finding it and a lot of people who live there don't even know about it.
Re buying tickets for things I would wait until you get there - we bought tickets for a few things and ended up not using them as we were so overwhelmed by the amount of things we wanted to do that we ended up not being able to fit it all in.
Honestly one of the best things in NYC is just to explore, sit in a couple cafes and take in the energy around you. You will see plenty of things to do and interact with on the way IMO
